Life Success Coaches are integrated into Boston Public Schools to coach and manage truant students to improve attendance, engagement and performance. Though our work begins in middle school, our coaches maintain relationship with senior high students who often become mentors for younger kids. Keeping kids in school impacts not only the local commuity but also the state and the region in lower crime rates. The TRUST Project has achieved a 53% reduction in truancy among those served versus a 7% truancy reduction rate for truant students who didn't participate in The TRUST Project.
The TRUST Project has developed a year-round, in-school after-school Building Futures Educational Initiative program methodology of:

-
Case Management – insuring that
young people don’t fall though the cracks
-
Vision Casting – casting a vision for
themselves and their futures
-
Positive Peer Group – providing an
alternative peer group for positive support
-
Academic Skill-Building – individual assessment, tutoring, and intensive
planning for success
These strategies are carried out primarily by our on-the-ground, support force: Life Success Coaches. Our Life Success Coaches are caring adults, engaging in the lives of at-risk youth and letting them know that someone cares about their success.
